SXSW Friday 2006

there are no pictures from thursday but if you care about what i did anyway, here you go-
so thursday angela and i left work a little early and went to a house concert east of UT for the last few hours of the afternoon. we really wanted to see rocky votolato and we did and he was great. and then we stayed for the long winters. i have a few of their cds and liked them better in person. another band was just starting as we left a little after 5 so that i could go home to let calla out. i had planned to go back out after that but having 3 beers in the afternoon sun (it was 80something) will make you sleepy! we're definitely planning to go back to this thursday party next year. the bands were playing in the front yard and people were set up with blankets and chairs across the street, kids and dogs were running around, there was beer... it was great!

friday i took off work and met shanna, dana, angela and robin at the jane party at the beauty bar.

When we first go there, it was pretty empty. we had easy access to the little tiny cups of pasta salad and mini sandwiches.
unfortunately, the only free drink was diet dr pepper and peach vodka. it sounds gross... and it is gross.
the pasta salad was way better than the diet dr pepper thing.
the beauty bar is very pink.
shanna, robin, angela and dana and i snagged a table and decided to stay there until what made milwaukee famous started out back.
But we eventually headed outside to see what made milwaukee famous (good!), film school (ok), of montreal (interesting), and heard a little mates of state (ok). unfortunately we had to leave before nada surf because my car was only legally parked until 6pm. we also met the guys of tally hall. i had to go talk to a group of guys that were wearing black slacks, white dress shirts, and each had a different colored solid tie. they were adorable! and it turns out, a really good band!
once we went outside, we weren't allowed back in. something about fire codes. bleah.
we were close.
robin must have said something funny.
do you think he just made that jacket?
dana and i had gotten seperated from everyone and decided to get the hell out of downtown. we headed to opal divine's south and were joined by rachael and chris after they escaped.
a good sxsw friday.
