SXSW Saturday - March 17th, 2007
Day Four of SXSW 2007.
Ah, yes, the longest day of SXSW. I saw 15 bands on Saturday. FIFTEEN!
Los Borrachos in line at Stubb's to see Mickey Avalon. We got there at about 11:30 and stood in line until a little after noon. We forgot sunscreen. Oops.
The Rhythm Root All Stars played before Mickey came on. Jason had joined us before Mickey started. I wish we would have gotten a picture of the look on his face. It was kind of a horrified, grossed-out look. You either love Mickey or you hate Mickey :)
Here's a clip during this song. It was taken from almost exactly where we were standing! Do a right click on the link and open in a new window to see them side by side.
Josh told this dude that I wanted a picture of him. He did have an awesome mullet.
After watching some of Ghostface Killah and eating some awesome brautwursts from the Best Wurst that Jason ran and got us, the crew left to see Northern State at Yard Dog and I stayed downtown with Jason. We walked back over to the Belmont and heard Colour Revolt and Jesse Sykes before walking back downtown.
We stopped in at Cheers Shot Bar to find a quiet spot for a few minutes and Tyler Ramsey was playing. He was so awesome (and cute)that I bought his cd. Angela met up with us and we headed over to Nuno's Attic to hear Brianna Sage.
After Brianna we were looking at the booklet I'd picked up at Cheers and saw that Cloud Cult and Earl Greyhound were playing at the Chuggin' Monkey so we ran over there.
Cloud Cult.
The hot guy from Earl Greyhound.
The awesome seats that Jason snagged for us.
Angela looking at the band.
We stopped for pizza on our way back over to Stubb's. No pictures from there but we saw A Fine Frenzy, Paolo Nutini, and Kings of Leon.
Then we walked over to Eternal to catch Alexi Murdoch at 11pm. And to say hi to Audrey!
Alexi Murdoch.
Jason and I were hot and annoyed by Alexi Murdoch being all like he was too good to be playing for us, so we went outside and waited for Angela.
Sixth Street.
We walked over to the Beauty Bar at midnight to see if we could catch Tokyo Police Club but the line was insane and we'd been out for 13 hours so we decided to call it a night. (We did get to hear a little of The Pipettes from outside the fence though.)
Once back in the sweet air conditioning at my house, Jason and I ceremoniously cut off our wristbands and celebrated with a beer. Fresh air on the wrist never felt so good.
